Comparison
Snyk vs Socket vs Aikido for AI-generated code
Short answer. Use Socket when the failure is a package the agent installed. Use Snyk or Aikido when you also want the project's own code scanned. None of the three writes your database policies. Snyk's own plans page says Coding Agent Security is not on Free or Team.
Cursor, Claude Code, and similar agents add files and dependencies faster than a person reviews them. These three tools sit on that repo. They answer different questions. Prices below were read from each vendor's pricing page on 21 Oct 2026.

| Question | Snyk | Socket | Aikido |
|---|---|---|---|
| The job | Software composition, static analysis, infrastructure as code, and container scanning, plus IDE, CLI, and source-control integrations. Snyk also documents a Cursor install called Snyk Studio. | Open-source dependency risk. Socket's permissions docs say the GitHub app collects dependency manifests, lockfiles, and related config, and that it is designed not to analyze your source code. | One platform that lists dependency scanning, SAST, secrets detection, cloud checks, and DAST on the free Developer plan. Secrets detection includes pre-commit blocking on that plan's feature list. |
| What an agent tripwire looks like | A vulnerable or insecure pattern in first-party code, or a known-bad dependency. On the Free plan, Snyk's Cursor docs say Snyk Code offers unlimited scans for open-source projects and limited tests for first-party code. | A new or updated package: malware, an install script, a typosquat. The free plan includes blocking malicious dependencies. Reachability analysis is listed from the Team plan up. | A finding in the repo, a secret in git or CI, or a cloud misconfiguration once you connect an account. The Developer plan rescans every 3 days. |
| Published price, 21 Oct 2026 | Free is $0 and includes SCA, SAST, IaC, and container scanning. Team is $25 a month for up to 10 developers, with higher test limits, Jira, and next-business-day support. Snyk says Coding Agent Security and AI pentesting are not on Free or Team. Those need an Enterprise platform subscription. | Free is $0 for 1 dev seat, with 1,000 scans a month, 500 API requests, and unlimited public and private repositories. Team is $25 per dev seat a month, from 5 seats, with 5,000 scans a month. Business is $50 per dev seat a month, from 20 seats. The page says yearly billing saves 20%. | Developer is $0 and includes 2 users, 10 repos, 2 container images, 1 domain, 1 cloud account, and 10 AI autofixes a month. Basic is listed at 300 a month including 10 users. Pro is listed at 600 a month including 10 users. The page says prices exclude local taxes and shows 10% off for annual billing. |
| Where it runs | IDE, CLI, and the git host. Snyk Studio in Cursor can scan as the model writes. Free users are limited to a set number of those scans. Snyk's docs say to enable Snyk Code before the SAST scan, and that enabling it uploads or clones the code under Snyk's retention policy. | GitHub app, IDE plugins on every published plan, and the scan of manifests. GitHub Actions scanning and AI model scanning are listed on Business, not Free. | IDE plugins are on the Developer list. Pull-request security review is listed from Basic upward, not on Developer. You connect the git host. Cloud features need a cloud account, and the free plan includes one. |
| What it will not catch | A Supabase table with row level security off. That is a database rule, not a dependency CVE. Coding-agent guardrails are a separate Enterprise product from the Free and Team scanners. | A bug in your own route. Socket is not reading that source. It also will not tell you that a Firebase rules file is in test mode. | A policy you never wrote, unless that policy is visible as code or config the scanner understands. Connecting a cloud account is a wider grant than a repo read. |
Lean toward Snyk when
The repo is in git and you want SAST plus dependency scanning, including a documented Cursor hook. Read the Free-plan limits on first-party tests before you assume every agent edit is scanned.
Lean toward Socket when
The agent is allowed to add npm or PyPI packages and you want a check that looks at the package, including malicious installs, without uploading the rest of the source. The GitHub app is the path Socket documents.
Lean toward Aikido when
You want secrets detection, dependency scanning, and SAST on one free plan for two people and about ten repos, and you will turn on pull-request review only after you move to Basic.
For an AI-built app, start with the check that matches the mistake you are seeing. A surprise package is Socket's lane. Your own generated code is Snyk or Aikido. Then do the database and key checks these scanners do not replace. The links below are the directory pages and those checklists.

FAQ
Does Snyk's free plan secure the Cursor agent itself?
Snyk documents Snyk Studio for Cursor, and the Free plan includes IDE scanning. Snyk's plans page says Coding Agent Security is not available on Free or Team. That capability is part of the Enterprise platform subscription. Free users are also limited in how many Snyk Studio scans they can run.
Does Socket read my application source?
Socket's permissions documentation says the GitHub app is designed to work without analyzing or uploading your source code. It collects dependency manifests, lockfiles, and related configuration. That is why it fits a dependency review and why it does not replace a scan of your own routes.
Can I use the free Aikido plan on a private repo?
Aikido's Developer plan is $0, includes 2 users, and lists a limit of 10 repos plus dependency scanning, SAST, and secrets detection. The pricing page does not require a credit card for that plan. Pull-request security review is listed on Basic, which the page prices at 300 a month including 10 users.
Which one replaces a Supabase policy review?
None of them. They scan code, dependencies, and, for Aikido and Snyk, more of the surrounding platform. Row level security is a setting on the database. Use the Supabase checklist after you pick a scanner.
