Supported builders
Trigger it with a webhook from any of these builders. The workflow editor is separate from the app builder. Keep webhook secrets out of the client.
What it is
n8n’s site describes AI agents and workflows you can see and control: a visual builder, JavaScript or Python steps, and the option to deploy on your infrastructure or theirs. The source is public. Integrations cover common SaaS APIs.
For an AI-built app, people use it to glue “user signed up” to email, CRM, and Slack without putting every side effect in the request that rendered the page. Credentials live in n8n. That store is now part of your production security boundary.
Best for: Connecting the app to other services with a workflow you can inspect, either self-hosted or on n8n cloud.
Watch-outs
- Webhook triggers need authentication. An open webhook is a public API.
- Cloud pricing: See site.
Our take
Opinion from ShipSafeStack. Not a score, not a certification, and not a sponsorship.
Use it for side effects you can draw and replay. Do not use it as a hidden place to store the only copy of a business rule you will forget. Self-hosting means you patch it. A workflow that calls an AI API with a wide-open webhook is an unauthenticated bill.
