Ship guide

Ship a Claude Code app

Claude Code runs in your terminal and can use whatever that shell can use. The launch risk is both the patch and the privilege the agent had while writing it.

A checklist for this builder, not a promise the app is production-safe. Confirm every setting in the project you actually generated.

  1. 01

Shrink the credentials it can see

Do not run the agent in a shell that has production cloud keys, database passwords, or live Stripe secrets loaded. Use a development env. If it already had production access, rotate those keys after the session.

  2. 02

Review the patch like anyone else's

Read the diff. Check new routes for auth, new tables for access rules, and new dependencies for install scripts. Semgrep or Snyk in CI is how this stays true on the next run.

  3. 03

Hunt for secrets in the branch

Follow the API key checklist. Include the transcript only if you are sure it was not pasted into a ticket. Prefer rotating to hoping the chat log stayed private.

  4. 04

Deploy from CI, not from the agent's laptop session

The host — Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, or another — should build from git. Env vars live there. Preview URLs with real data should be protected.

  5. 05

    Close the usual holes

RLS if you use Supabase, webhooks if you use Stripe, rate limits on expensive routes, and the pre-launch checklist.
