Supported builders

Windsurf

This is the builder. Output is a repo. Deploy and data live elsewhere unless you connect them.

What it is

Windsurf’s site describes an editor where local and cloud agents work together. Cascade is the in-editor agent. The site also describes delegating tasks to Devin, a cloud agent, and connecting MCP servers from Windsurf settings.

It is a coding environment, not a host. Apps you build here still need the database, auth, and deploy steps in the rest of this directory. Cloud agents that run on their own machine need the same secret hygiene as a teammate with a laptop.

Best for: An editor-based AI workflow, including longer tasks handed to a cloud agent, on a codebase you control.

Watch-outs

  • Cloud agents and MCP connections expand who can act on the repo. Review those settings.

Our take

Opinion from ShipSafeStack. Not a score, not a certification, and not a sponsorship.

Treat Cascade like Cursor: review the edit. Treat a cloud agent like a contractor: give it a branch and a non-production database. MCP servers you enable are additional permissions. Turn on only the ones the task needs.
